Emoji Yogi is a program developed by Danceworks for K5 and 1st grade students. Participants will be guided through movement, breathing exercises, yoga and storytelling by one of our Teaching Artists.
They will be engaged with themes such as kindness, happiness and gratitude with age appropriate practices.

GET IT OUT THERE is an emerging and established artist concert series featuring new work by performing artists of various disciplines in Milwaukee and surrounding areas. Artists showcase their new work on Saturday, October 7th, 2023 in 2 separate concerts at the Danceworks Studio Theatre. This performance is presented through the Danceworks DanceLAB concert series.

Waltz and Foxtrot foundation steps for beginners
$35 per couple | $20 per individual (price includes a lesson and one drink)
Looking for something fun and different to freshen up your date night? Look no further! Each social dance series will start with an introduction to the dance style and will work on building patterns and lead/follow skills throughout the lessons. You can join at any time, however, we do recommend you register for an entire series to gain the most from the class. This will give you the choreography, practice time and confidence needed to dance socially. After the one-hour lesson, stay for a drink and to mingle a bit. One drink (beer, wine or non alcoholic drink) is included in the price of the class. Must be 21 to consume alcohol.
All levels and abilities are welcome, and no previous dance experience is necessary.

Danceworks Performance MKE at the Barn Project

Hosted by Peter Stathas Dance, the Barn Project is an annual residency held at The Sugar Creek Barn in Elkhorn, WI that serves as an opportunity to reconnect, rediscover, and re-engage with one another, to harness our artistry and creativity, and to live into our mission of engaging and connecting with artists from different communities. This year, the third annual Barn Project will culminate in an evening of live music, dance, and community. Join in experiencing the diversity and magic of dance, connecting with different members and peers in the community over food and drinks, and gaining a new perspective on how art and life are intertwined. Peter Stathas Dance will be hosting 3 choreographers at this year’s residency: Christal Wagner–Danceworks’ Artistic Director, Amy Wilkinson– professor/educator in dance at Loyola University, and Concert Dance Chicago– directed by Venetia Stifler.

Jazz dance emerges from intricate stepping patterns and vibrant social dance styles deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of West African Dance and the Diaspora. More currently, this art form is known for its short bursts of playful and performative routines, showcased in dance competition shows on national networks. Beneath the well-deserved fame lies an uncharted realm of Jazz’s Swing and Social Dance origins—a realm that often remains shrouded from popular perception. DPMKE investigates the roots and branches of this form, drawing inspiration from Swing Styling, Hip Hop, and vernacular stepping patterns, all infused with a Contemporary Jazz spin. This showcase promises to offer a captivating variety of movement and sound, poised to both mesmerize and ground our audience in its uniquely American history.

This scholarship opportunity is meant to give financial support and/or field experience to a deserving individual who has a passion for dance. Paulette always encouraged her two daughters Kim and Kristin to let their lights shine. It is the way she lived her life and through this scholarship, her light will keep shining and illuminating dancers in the studio and on stage. This scholarship is intended for Danceworks students, who are identified as need-based students and are in pursuit of training and/or mentorship with Danceworks and its staff. Students of all ages may apply for a scholarship for an individual program, class, full year of programming and/or field experience with mentorship.

Private lessons are a great way to prepare for an upcoming audition or special event or to give you a boost of confidence on the dance floor.
Sessions can be arranged around your schedule and are available in a wide range of dance styles and levels. All private sessions are with a qualified member of the Danceworks faculty who specializes in the dance style requested. Lesson material is based on your individual needs and moves at a pace that is comfortable for you. Private lessons can be scheduled as a single class or on an ongoing basis.
