School Day Off Creative Arts Workshops

School Day Off workshops are appropriate for children ages 5-10 and run from 8 am-3 pm at our Water Street location. Workshops include a dance and visual arts component along with music, creative writing, and creative drama to make the day off of school a creative adventure!

Single workshops are $35, with discounts for additional family members in the same workshop. Morning and afternoon extended care is available for an extra cost. An informational packet will be emailed to you before the workshops and must be filled out and returned by the morning of the the workshop. They can also be downloaded at the bottom of the page.

Our spring break workshop is $220 for the full 5 days from 9am-4pm. Morning and afternoon extended care is available for an additional cost

Friday, October 1- Reptile Rock

Can you do the crocodile rock? You'll be able to by the end of this day of rockin'! Join us for visual art and movement activites while we explore lizards, snakes, and other members of this 200 million year old species!

Friday, October 15- Game Show Mania

Buzz!!!! The answer is... sign up for this workshop where we'll delve into the over-the-top exciting land of game shows!

Thursday, October 28- The Great Outdoors

The weather may be getting chilly out there, but there's no reason why we can't enjoy our favorite part of the outdoors from the comfort of the Danceworks dance and art studios!

Friday, October 29- Creepy Crawlers

Do you love things with eight legs, antennae, and wings? Then this is the workshop for you as we inspect the world of insects through creative writing and other arts activites.

Monday January 17- We Are Family

The creative arts can help us discover how we're all connected in this crazy world! Spend Martin Luther King Jr. Day at this workshop as we seek through art the many ways we are united.

Friday January 21- Hawaiian Hullabaloo

We may not have palm trees, sand, or volcanoes, but out imaginations will take us to the 50th of our United States for a fun day of dance and art.... Hawaiian style!

Monday, January 24- Zap! Bam! Pow!

Do your superpowers make these sounds? Come along and bring your cape as we find the superhero in all of us!

Monday February 21- Surfin' Safari

Do you know how to surf? Well, we don't either, but it's time for a mid-winter beach party at Danceworks so come on a surfin' safari right along with us!

Monday, March 14- Disco Days

Break out the mirror ball and bell bottoms, this day is all about dancin' to the disco beat. Do the hustle!

Spring Break Week, April 18-22- The Art of Peace

Spend a week creating art while learning how you can make a difference in your community. Meet new friends and share traditions through this week of creative expression surrounding global respect.

Friday, May 20- Walk Like an Egyptian

Pyramids, mummies, heiroglyphics... what's not to love about the fascinating ancient Egyptian civilization? Travel down the Nile with us to the time of King Tut!

Buddy Discount: Register for any School Day Off Workshop with a friend who is NEW to Danceworks, and you'll each get $5 off the $35 fee.

Multi-Workshop Discount: Register and pay in advance for 5 workshops and get $5 off each additional workshop, plus receive 15% off the spring break workshop.

Then, add a buddy: If you are already taking advantage of the multi-workshop discount and then bring a friend who is NEW to Danceworks, you get $10 off each additional workshop and your friend gets $5 off.

Full and partial scholarships based on merit and financial need are available. Applications can be picked up at Danceworks' front desk or downloaded here . Scholarship applications and other required paperwork must be submitted at least two weeks before the workshop start date.
