National Tap Dance Day Workshop: May 25

Posted on by Danceworks News

Did you know that May 25th is National Tap Dance Day?

Join us for a special workshop to honor and celebrate tap dance on Wednesday, May 25, from 7:45-9 pm!

Cost: $17

Taught by Rich Ashworth, the workshop will include choreography for one of the most historically significant tap dances, the shim-sham, as created by Leonard Reed. This workshop is intended for ages 14+.

Why do we celebrate on May 25? We celebrate National Tap Dance Day on May 25th in honor of  Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, a significant contributor to tap dance born on May 25, 1878. The bill came to fruition when President George H.W. Busch signed it into law on November 8, 1989.

Grab your tap shoes and get ready to make some noise!
