About the show: Danceworks presents Rhythmworks: Mosaic Motions as part of the DanceLAB summer concert series. The showcase highlights Danceworks On Tap’s brassy, funky, and fun take on tap repertoire. Choreographer Gabi Sustache extends this theme through her exploration of funk, popping, and locking with hip hop collaborator Wezley Turner. This mosaic offering welcomes back Kathak Classical Indian choreographer Cyenthia Vijayakumar with special guest Varsha Prasad, creating pieces that highlight playfully fast footwork and unique storytelling, alongside Prince Adrean (Maxwell) and his company showcasing African dance rhythms with a contemporary spin. Flamenco artist Kerensa DeMars and the emerging KPOP group MkeMe Crew return with new performances. This summer’s Danceworks’ Performance Workshop series features choreography by Gina Laurenzi, Alex Vanissaveth, and Rich Ashworth, inviting community performers to dance in the styles of jazz, KPOP, and tap respectively.
