Temporarily Closed through March 29

A message from our CEO, Deborah Farris:

“Since 1992, Danceworks has been more than a performance company and dance studio. We are a family of artists committed to bringing joy, health and creativity into the lives of those we have the privilege of serving through dance, and this reaches far beyond the walls of our stage and studios.

We have kept our doors open this past week to serve and support our community, but now, to do our part to help protect our community during the COVID-19 outbreak, effective immediately, Danceworks will be temporarily closing through March 29.

We know that dance and movement are vital parts of our lives, and the well-being of our community is our highest priority. So, we are in the process of creating online video alternatives to our on-site classes that will help you incorporate movement and dance (not stress) while you’re at home. So stay tuned!

In the meantime:

  • Students in our youth classes will receive a credit on their account for classes that are canceled. This credit can be used for any programming, merchandise or performances at Danceworks and it will be good for one year from the date it is issued.
  • We will be extending the expiration date on all adult class cards and packages to ensure our clients have plenty of opportunities to use them.
  • All private lessons and rentals will be rescheduled and we will email those customers directly.
  • More information regarding our Spring Break Workshop will be coming soon.

We remain committed to fulfilling our mission as we move through this challenging time. It is a rapidly changing situation which we are monitoring closely. Please keep an eye on our website and your email for any further updates.

We encourage you to keep moving and we can’t wait to welcome you back into the studio. Meanwhile, be safe, stay healthy and stay tuned to our on-site movement/dance alternatives for youth and adults. We will move through this together—

Thank you,

Deb Farris, CEO”

As we make the challenging decision to cancel weeks of classes, workshops and performances, we are creating serious and lasting hardships for our staff and artists. Dance organizations (and the broader performing arts industry), artists, and independent art professionals are vital contributors to the nonprofit sector and important to the economy of the Milwaukee community that we serve. As a nonprofit arts organization, we rely heavily on your support. Now more than ever, your support is critical to all nonprofit arts organizations as we are realizing significant losses due to the impact of COVID-19. In this challenging time, we ask that you please consider a donation to Danceworks. Please consider a donation in the amount you would have spent on a drop-in studio class or performance ticket. Your support will make the difference for our artists and staff impacted by these circumstances. Thank you.
