LOOK! Up in the sky! It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s Danceworks 2021 Showcase!!
Danceworks student showcase is an opportunity for dancers of all ages to take the stage to show the progress they have made through their hard work and dedication. Dance is a performing art so performing is a big part of the learning process and this experience helps build self-esteem and confidence.

This year’s showcase, Up, Up, and Away, will spotlight the joy that dance brings, even during a time when things feel so different. Our students who are learning in-person and virtually feel proud of the accomplishments they are achieving week after week. The attention and applause from friends and family on the showcase day is their reward for all their hard work. We hope you will be able to join us!

BEFORE YOU BUY:

  • Face-masks required in common areas/when away from your assigned lot. Please check out our other COVID-19 studio policies.
  • Families with dancers who are in multiple shows will pay regular ticket prices for the first show and will receive 50% off a limited number of tickets for the second show. More details should have been emailed to those families directly. Questions? Please contact us via phone or email.
  • Performers do not need a ticket.
  • Check “Showtimes & Class Assignments” below or contact Danceworks front desk to confirm your dancer’s showcase time.

  • Each show will be approximately 45 minutes.
  • Please bring your own chair. You may also want to bring sunscreen and sunglasses.

Standing room only ticket sales closed

Standing Room Only tickets are being sold with a limit of 2 tickets per dancer. This area will be exactly that- a standing room with no chairs allowed due to the limited space. If someone cannot stand for the 45-minute show, we will do our best to make other arrangements for that one person, however, your full party may not be able to move. If you are hoping to purchase more than 2 tickets, please purchase your standing room tickets and also complete the ticket waitlist form. Completing this form is not a guarantee that you will be able to purchase tickets. You will be contacted in waitlist order when/if tickets are available for the show you are interested in attending.

 

Return ticket form

If you have purchased tickets that you no longer need, please complete this form. A refund will be given for any tickets returned and you will make another family who still needs tickets very happy!

 

Order Flowers

The tradition of giving dancers flowers after a performance is a form of audience appreciation. Show your dancer some love and adoration with a bouquet of flowers as beautiful as them!

A Note for Parents

Check out the four different showtimes listed below; classes have been assigned to one of four showcase times. Your dancer will be in one show unless they enrolled in multiple classes in which case they may be in more than one show.

 

Participation in the showcase is optional, however, it’s a great way for students to have fun and gain confidence. Students attending a class virtually are welcome to be part of the showcase, however, they will need to attend dress rehearsal in person along with the actual performance as scheduled.

Registration Fee

The showcase participation fee is $40 per class, $75 for two classes and $105 for any dancer enrolled in three classes. This fee goes towards production costs, costume pieces, props and a Danceworks t-shirt for your child.
Danceworks would like all children to participate regardless of financial restrictions, please email Amy Brinkman if you have concerns regarding participation fees.

It is very important that we know who will be participating in the showcase so our faculty can plan accordingly. Please complete this participation form to let us know either way, if your child will/will not be participating. The deadline for submitting this form is Saturday, March 13.

Costume Assignments

Here is the list of costumes that students need to provide based on class. Please contact your teaching artist with any questions.

Dress Rehearsal Schedules & Reminders

Please see the attached document to view what show your child’s class will be in and what day their rehearsal will be.

 

Our goal in having four shows is to keep the number of participants and audience members down to allow for social distancing. If your child is in more than one class it may  not have been possible to schedule their classes in the same show. The shows are short (45 minutes) and we hope that your child will be able to perform in all the shows with their classes, however, we certainly understand if you do not want to have your child participate in multiple shows.

*The location for all showcase dress rehearsals will be in the Danceworks Parking Lot.


Reminders for Dress Rehearsal:

  • All dance shoes, clothing items and dance bags should be labeled with your dancer’s name/initials.
  • Arrive to dress rehearsal (in Danceworks parking lot) in costume with both hair and makeup complete. Check in with your instructor regarding hair preference.
  • Dancers should arrive at Danceworks parking lot for assigned dress rehearsal at the specific time listed on the website.
  • During dress rehearsal evenings, dancers should arrive at assigned time. We will be running the full show from top to bottom (1 hr. max) and then dancers will be dismissed. No pictures are being taken this year.
