Come alone or with fellow dancers. Dancers will be paired up and taught choreography from the concert, Two 2 Duet. Join us and together, we will continue to explore the duet!
In 2017 and 2018, Christal Wagner and Gina Laurenzi launched a project exploring the relationship between the performers onstage and their collaborators’ medium. In this hour-long performance, Two 2 Duet, they wove together a series of dance solos and duets that respond to the auditory experience, the visual experience, and the duo’s movement invention. Through seven kinetic works of poetry, music, film, original composition, visual art, and movement, they explored the idea of the duet. Now, they’d like to share their movement with you.

Bollywood is a beautiful blend of Indian dance styles, including classical dance forms such as Kathak, and folk dances such as Bhangra. Signs and meanings are combined with hand movements (mudras), facial expressions, and neck and foot movements to create modern Bollywood dances.
Bachata originated in the rural neighborhoods of Dominican Republic. It is a relaxed dance style that incorporates lots of hips and shoulder movements. With its sultry movements and distinctive music, you are sure to fall in love with this Dominican treasure.
Flamenco is a Spanish art form made up of three parts: guitar playing (“guitarra”), song (“cante”), and dance (“baile”). Flamenco originated in the southern regions of Spain, but it’s thought to be influenced by many world cultures, including Latin American, Cuban, and Jewish traditions. This workshop series will focus on arm/hand gestures and fun stomping footwork combination. Enter the world of flamenco filled with passion, precision, and energy. Female students should wear a leotard or fitted top, skirt/fitted pants/exercise pants, and covered-toe shoes with a thick heel (preferred: character dance shoe or flamenco shoe). Male students should dress in comfortable clothing and wear short, flexible boots or hard-soled shoes.
