Make new friends, use your imagination, create original artwork and experience the thrill of performing! Our popular Summer Creative Arts Camps for ages 3½-13 integrate dance and visual arts, along with music, creative drama and creative writing, into one fun-filled program. Taught by experienced professionals, each week offers an age-appropriate theme that sparks imagination and creativity, with an informal performance for friends and family as the grand finale!

June 19-23: Tropical Breezes (9am – 12pm)
Dive into summer with a week of island adventures. Dance your way to paradise as you learn to hula, build your very own ukulele, and venture across volcanoes to party at a Hawaiian luau.
July 10-14: Clickity-Clack, Heading Down the Track (9am – 12pm)
ALL ABOARD for a week of fun with trains. We’ll go chugging along on an adventure full of railroad songs, engine art and whistle tooting games. Full steam ahead with locomotive-filled fun for every little engineer.
July 17-21: 1, 2 Let’s go to the Zoo! (9am – 12pm)
Who do you see when you visit the zoo? There are so many animals looking at you! Join us for a week of moving like a monkey, being as crafty as a cat and as playful as a penguin. No matter what your favorite animal—you’ll enjoy this week of amazing animal fun.
June 12-16: At the Drop of a Hat (9am – 12pm)
What do you get when you bring together a hat peddler and a mischievous monkey? Fun, fun, fun! Using the book Caps for Sale as inspiration, this week will be packed full of dance, creative drama, art and tons of monkey business.
July 24-28: Fancy Feet (9am – 4pm)
Whether you move as light as a feather or as loud as thunder, this week’s for you. Ballet and tap will be the focus of this camp, along with art-making, music and more!
August 7-11: Wiggles to Wings (9am – 4pm)
Ever wonder how that cute, fuzzy caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly? Learn all about the life cycle of this beautiful creature through dance and art during this week’s peek into the amazing world of butterflies.
July 5-7: Glory Days (9am – 4pm)
Each date will be a separate workshop. Register for one, two or all three.
From the Golden Gate Bridge to Mount Rushmore to the Statue of Liberty, use your imagination and explore USA all the way! Learn something new about the country you live in and celebrate our nation through the arts.

July 31-August 4: Disney Days (9am – 4pm)
Have you ever imagined yourself as a singing prince or a dancing princess? Well, now’s your chance to become that character you’ve always wanted to be! Spend the week exploring the wonderful world of Disney music through dancing, singing and art.
June 26-30: Hometown Heroes (9am – 4pm)
What makes a hero? Spend a week reflecting on all the heroes in your life and those who inspire you! Join us for an amazing week of art-making, dance and more! Who knows? Maybe you’ll be our city’s next hip hop dance hero!
August 7-11: Everything Old is New Again (9am – 4pm)
How can we love and care for our environment? Come along and learn how you can do your part to protect nature while having a blast dancing, making art and more!
July 17-21: Beasts in the Garden (9am – 4pm)
Share the spotlight with Danceworks Performance Company and Danceworks Youth Performance Company as they search high and low for animals that fly and glow. Campers will help bring the story of Handel’s Bestiary to life during this week of dance and art-making. Don’t miss a chance to be part of this amazing tale about oh, so many tails!
The week will focus on a performance piece that campers will perform alongside the Danceworks Performance Company on Saturday, July 22. The performance will take place outdoors at the beautiful Lynden Sculpture Gardens (2145 W Brown Deer Rd. Milwaukee). We’ll have a fun, free family workshop from 11-11:45am and the performance will begin at 12 noon.
In addition to working with our professional and youth performance companies, campers will also be working with other Danceworks’ artists to create the set and costume pieces!

June 19-23: Spotlight Musical Theater Camp (9am – 4pm)
Maybe you’ve noticed that musicals have captured the national spotlight lately! Musical theater is an art form which combines music, singing, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. Join us for a spectacular week of exploring popular Broadway musicals. Campers will get up close and personal with all the aspects of creating a show, including making a set. The week will end with a performance of the campers own mini-version of a popular musical.
August 14-18: Spotlight Theater Camp (9am – 4pm)
Young actors will explore theater games, improvisation, and scene study. New to theater? That’s great! Come with a passion for the stage. Weaving together theater, art and dance, this camp will present an original production at the end of the week.
July 10-14: Dance Intensive (9am – 12pm)
Danceworks’ Summer Dance Intensive is designed to give students who are serious about dance the opportunity to study in a nurturing and professional environment with some of Milwaukee’s finest dance faculty.
Our intensive program is structured to advance the technical skills of intermediate dancers (equivalent to Danceworks youth technique level III and up). Students’ daily schedule will include technique classes in ballet and jazz, with contemporary, ballroom, tap, hip hop and more offered in rotation. To register, students must have a minimum of three years of consistent training in ballet and/or jazz technique.Register for Dance Intensive
July 10-14: Broadway Beats (1 – 4pm)
Step on to center stage for a fun week of working on choreography, scenes and songs from musicals that are sure to keep the beat in your feet! This week will focus on some of today’s most popular musicals—from shows with hip hop dance to songs with a Latin flare, don’t miss this chance to work with a team of professionals and to get ready for your next big break!
