Danceworks on the Move

Bring Danceworks to Your School!

Dance and Multi-Arts Residencies: Danceworks’ faculty, working in collaboration with school staff, will design a custom theme-based arts residency for your school. Designed to meet the needs and goals of various student populations, residencies in dance and visual art programming are available for students in grades K-12, and may also integrate drama, music and creative writing. Programming can connect to academic content areas, a theme or be based on a specific style of dance/art.

  • Is interdisciplinary
  • Reinforces and enhances school programs and curricula
  • Applies principles of the creative process
  • Ranges from a single workshop to a multi-week residency
  • Culminates in an informal event showcasing newly acquired skills and exhibiting student work

Order Danceworks To-Go

Danceworks Performance Company (DPC): If you wish to introduce your students to the concert dance experience, DPC offers a wide range of performances—from school matinee performances to age-specific choreography. All performances are followed by a talkback with artists and may be paired with hands-on workshops.

Danceworks on Tap (DOT): DOT provides a narrated, interactive performance that explores the American art of tap dance. The performance traces the history of tap and explains the elements of the form from its early days to the swing era. The program concludes with a special section on “tap and technology.” Workshops in tap and rhythm dance are also available.

Performance Logisitics:

  • Auditorium, gym floor, raised platform or classroom
  • DOT requires a wooden floor
  • 30 x 30 performance area, swept and unobstructed by pillars
  • sound system or power source close to performing area and microphone
